Garlic Knots

I experimented with garlic knots today, using 1/3 of my sourdough bread dough before the first rise. They turned out beautifully! 

Ingredients:
1 TBSP Olive Oil (baking grade)
1 TBSP Butter or Margarine, melted
1 Minced Garlic Clove
Dash of Dried Oregano
Dash of Garlic Salt
 
Dough:
After dividing sourdough bread dough, place 1/3 in a greased bowl, cover, and allow to rise for 90 minutes.
 
When it has doubled in size, gently divide it into 12 equal portions. Working carefully with the dough, roll into 10” strands and knot. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and cover. Let rise another 60 minutes, until the dough springs back when lightly touched.
 
Mix olive oil, melted butter, minced garlic, oregano, and garlic salt. Brush mixture over knots.
 
Bake for 15 minutes at 375º.
 
Optional: brush knots with melted butter when they are still warm from the oven.
